New features were not introduced haphazardly. Each feature sought to fulfill player needs and increase the game’s longevity. The power-up system, as an example, was tuned to be potent without becoming a necessity, rewarding adept play and precise timing. Fresh mole categories with special behaviors, such as moles requiring several hits, moles that stole points, or advantageous moles that gave rewards, introduced complexity and required quicker choices from players.
