The Free Spins feature marks where Aztec Bonanza truly excels. This is where the largest wins usually happen. To start it, you need to land four or more golden scatter symbols across the reels. That gives you eight free spins to commence. The bonus round uses a larger 7×7 grid, which greatly enhances the probability for big symbol clusters. Before the spins begin, a special “symbol upgrade” phase starts. Random symbols get upgraded to higher-value ones, paving the way for larger wins. Once the free spins begin, the four Multiplier Reels activate. Each one starts at 1x.
